Philippines is a third world country located on 10/40 window. The economy is deteriorating as well as the religion. This country has been a melting point of races, colors and tongues. Likewise, Political agenda dominates in all form of government and a nation threaten with the fear of terrorism. And yet, a good vineyard for EVANGELISM ready for harvest.
Province of Leyte is part of Region 8 of the country - The Philippines. It is located on the eastern part of the Visayas Islands. The Leyte provice is divided into; Eastern, Northern, West, and Southern Part.
Our mission work is composed of seven towns of the Northwest Leyte – Rural towns that are without a testimony of our Lord Jesus - these towns are close-minded and many are fanatics on their religion. In fact, some of these towns have haciendas owned by Spaniard friars during Spanish times. Old cathedral churches became tourist spots, marked with religious, social, cultural backgrounds. Lives in these rural towns are hard and poor mingle with gambling activity. For them, they blame God for making lives miserable.
On the other hand, Philippines has been reported by other missions group that it is already well evangelized, but sad to say, even at this very moment, these isolated, rural and remote areas are still unevangelized when in fact, LBCM Frontliners for Christ is moving to these places which conduct open air evangelistic campaign and to start of Planting church work for the praises and glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Community Development such as functional literacy, water system, supplemental feeding and mother class are being used an approach of evangelism. These approaches are well accepted because of its PRO-POOR orientation.
